The Middle Ages Presents David Mitchell's Soapbox

Deb: David Mitchell makes me laugh. He is smart and funny and I love him. A recurring guest on QI (a British TV comedy panel show), he also has his own show (David Mitchell’s Soapbox) and I thought I would share something of this witty witty man. Here is a link to more witty hilarity.

    1. I know Shalaka and I agree. Everything is funnier with a British accent. The Brits are so informed so well read. The comedy is smart isn't it? Thanks for the How I met your Mother clip. Really clever and funny!

V funny. "i could care less" oooo how I wish he'd gone further- Irregardless is my pet bugaboo
There is regard- there is regard-less but the prefix "ir" is a negative & when added to an negative it becomes a double negative or without- without regard- whish is REGARD!
Yes it is in dictionaries but as a NON standard word and as such not really acceptable in educated verbal or written communication.
And now I will get off the soapboax ( thanks Queenie!)

    2. Ahhh!! Irregardless is my least favorite non-word! Drives me nuts. That and literally when it should be figuratively.

  15. Deb David Mitchell presents a class BBC radio 4 show called the unbelievable truth . i don;t think it is on air at the moment . i will give you a heads up when it is and you can use the BBC radio 4 listen again service to listen to the show at a time that suits you .he had also been a very funny guest on another BBC radio show called I'm sorry i haven't a clue . both shows are well worth a listen to .

by the way i love the clip . if you ever come to Ireland though you will need to learn a whole new version of English . a few examples . here you smoke a fag , when we talk about crack here it is spelt craic and means to have a good time ,drugs optional . janey is not someones name it is an exclamation of surprise !

Good heavens. For the simple fact that he could come up with such a phrase, I wish I could buy this man a pint.

  21. Brilliant! Here in upstate NY the resident hicks ( since I was born and raised on Long Island I do not qualify as a hick) like to say things like -So didn't I and so couldn't I, which are phrases that make no sense at all but you will only make them angry if you point out such things
